With a career spanning more than 150 recordings, O’Boyle has collaborated extensively with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, composed the ABC’s official broadcast theme for the Sydney Olympics, and provided the exclusive music for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s opening of the 2002 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
As a conductor, he has led performances across diverse genres—including jazz, orchestral, opera, ballet, and world music—working with esteemed artists such as Dame Evelyn Glennie, James Morrison AM, Tommy Emmanuel AM, Kate Ceberano AM, and Delta Goodrem. His dedication to Indigenous Australian music is reflected in his groundbreaking Concerto for Didgeridoo and Orchestra, which ranked #32 in ABC Classic FM’s The Classic 100 Concertos.

Delaware, OH – The Central Ohio Symphony, under the baton of Jaime Morales-Matos, is proud to present an exhilarating concert on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at 3:00 PM, featuring internationally acclaimed violinist Dylana Jenson. Jenson, who made history as the first American woman to win the Silver Medal at the Tchaikovsky Competition, will bring her artistry to Brahms’s Violin Concerto, a pinnacle of the violin repertoire known for its lyrical beauty and technical demands.
The concert will also mark the return of Gala Flagello to Delaware as she introduces her compelling composition, Bravado, originally written for the Tanglewood Orchestra in 2023.
The evening will conclude with a performance of Carl Nielsen’s Symphony No. 2, The Four Temperaments—a symphonic exploration of the four classical personality types: Choleric, Phlegmatic, Melancholic, and Sanguine.

About Dylana Jenson
Dylana Jenson has performed with most major orchestras in the United States and has toured Europe, Australia, Japan, and Latin America for concerts, recitals, and recordings. After her triumphant success at the Tchaikovsky Competition, where she became the youngest and first American woman to win the Silver Medal, she made her Carnegie Hall debut performing the Sibelius Violin Concerto with Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra.
Following her most recent Carnegie Hall performance, Jenson again electrified both audience and critics in her performance of Karl Goldmark’s Violin Concerto. According to Strad Magazine, “In Jenson’s hands, even lyrical passages had an intense, tremulous quality... a sizzling performance.” Harris Goldsmith of the New York Concert Review praised, “I can give no higher praise than to say that her excellent performance brought to mind, and was a loving tribute to, the great Nathan Milstein... who was one of Jenson’s mentors.”
Jenson was made an Honorary Citizen of Costa Rica at the age of 13 for her artistic contribution to her mother’s homeland. She comes from a family deeply rooted in the arts—her sister, Vicky Jenson, directed the films Shrek and Shark Tale; her brother, Ivan Jenson, is a painter and poet; and her uncle, Alvaro Cardona-Hine, was a celebrated painter and author.
In tandem with her solo career, Jenson has been actively giving masterclasses and teaching at summer music festivals. She has served as Associate Professor at the University of Notre Dame and as Distinguished Professor at Grand Valley State University, an appointment made by the university’s President. In her teaching, she applies the Russian violin technique taught by Leopold Auer, championed by great artists such as Nathan Milstein, David Oistrakh, Isaac Stern, and Jascha Heifetz. This method fosters a natural, physical relationship with the instrument, allowing for technical mastery and artistic expression.
Jenson began playing the violin at the age of two and a half, studying first with her mother before continuing with Manuel Compinsky, Nathan Milstein, and Josef Gingold.

Aaron Hardwick: Thank you, Eva! I’m thrilled to be here. Video game music has transformed from simple 8-bit tunes into full orchestral scores that rival film and classical compositions. It’s no longer just background noise; it’s integral to the gaming experience. Music shapes the atmosphere, builds emotional connections, and even guides gameplay. It’s an art form in its own right.
Eva: That’s a fantastic perspective. You’re conducting the Münchner Rundfunkorchester for the premiere of award-winning video game music. What does this moment mean for the recognition of video game music as an art form?
Aaron: This is a monumental moment. To have a prominent orchestra perform and broadcast video game music on radio and TV signifies a shift in how people perceive it. It validates what composers and musicians in this space have known for years—that video game music is just as powerful, complex, and emotionally resonant as any other genre. Seeing it performed in a concert hall elevates its status and introduces it to new audiences.
Eva: Video games incorporate multiple art forms—visuals, storytelling, acting, and of course, music. How do you see music fitting into this bigger artistic picture?
Aaron: Video games are one of the most immersive artistic mediums because they integrate so many disciplines. Music is the emotional heartbeat of a game; it drives the tension, enhances storytelling, and connects players to the world in ways that visuals alone cannot. Just like in opera or film, the score is essential in shaping the narrative. It’s thrilling to see more people recognize this.
Eva: That’s beautifully said. What excites you most about this upcoming performance?
Aaron: The chance to bring video game music to a wider audience in a classical setting is exhilarating. Many people who may not be gamers will hear these compositions and realize their depth and beauty. It’s also a huge moment for the composers who pour their hearts into crafting these scores. I feel incredibly honored to be a part of this celebration of video game music as a legitimate and extraordinary art form.
Eva: I can hear your passion, and it’s inspiring! Any final thoughts for those who may still be skeptical about video game music as an art form?

Award-Winning Composer Eldar Hudiyev Joins Roster
Composer Eldar Hudiyev received a Silver Medal for his composition "Circus," orchestrated by Farkhad Khudyev from the esteemed Global Music Awards. The upcoming performances of "Circus" are set for October 26, 2024, featuring the The University of Texas at Austin Symphony Butler School of Music, with the wonderful soloist Jonathan Gunn, professor of clarinet at the University of Texas.
Following that, on December 14, 2024, the renowned clarinetist David Shifrin, a professor of clarinet at Yale University Yale School of Music will perform "Circus" with The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra USA Symphony, conducted by Farkhad Khudyev.

Organized by Enlaces Alaska, the exposition shows the face and contribution of the Latino community in Alaska. Abimael Melendez grew up immersed in orchestra music in his hometown of Carora, Venezuela, participating in the El Sistema program.
Renowned globally as a successful music initiative, El Sistema provides a sophisticated musical academic foundation for young musicians where Mr. Melendez had the chance to engage in various capacities as a student, teacher, and conductor.
With a passion for music as a potent instrument for community transformation, Mr. Melendez has undertaken studies in Music Education, concentrating on conducting, at the Longy School of Music of Bard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
He has enhanced his expertise through masterclasses and workshops with notable figures such as Andrea Vela, Antonio Berdugo, Diane Wittry, Anna Edwards, Kenneth Kiesler, Mark Shapiro, Luis Miguel Gonzalez, Eduardo Portal, Gary Lewis and Silas Nathaniel.

Bluthner Concert Artist Emata has thrilled audiences in the US and abroad with his reimagined solo concerts, delivering a delightfully eclectic repertoire ranging from the standard repertory to 21st-century works, plus the luxurious arrangements of Bill Evans.

"The International Conductors Workshop and Competition today announced the winners of the thirty-fourth ICWC held June 21 to 23, 2024 at the Gwinnett Online Campus in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Ten conductors from France, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, Texas,
and Utah, conducted the professional ICWC Orchestra in four rehearsals and a culminating concert on June 23, in symphonic works by Barber, Bernstein, Brahms, Mendelssohn,
Mozart, Strauss, Verdi, and Wagner. The conductors also participated in a master class and individual sessions during the workshop which has become one of the most well-known and highly regarded conductor training programs in the nation.
Director of the ICWC, Maestro Adrian Gnam, said, "we were really excited about this group of conductors. They had already shown excellent potential as conductors from the videos they submitted and from their accomplishments with numerous orchestras. The ICWC concert showed the progress they made in such a short time.'

Conductor Thomas Dickey, who just joined Eva Artistic Management's roster, announces his book chapter, "Cracking Open the Conducting Closet: Shared Experiences Among Queer Conductors" has been published by Routledge in Perspectives on Conducting.
"Rooted in research and practice, Perspectives on Conducting presents a multi-faceted exploration of the role of the modern-day conductor. Seeking to bring a more inclusive approach to understanding conducting as a career, this book expands beyond elite pathways to highlight the contributions made by conductors across different areas of musical engagement, including youth projects, community groups, and professional ensembles. Chapters by an international roster of authors address the challenges conductors face in working with a wide range of ensembles, including orchestras and choirs made up of young people, university and conservatory students, adult volunteers, and professional musicians.

Katy Smith performs Tchaikovsky with Worcestershire Symphony
Recently, Katy Smith performed Tchaikovsky’s concerto with the Worcestershire Symphony Orchestra. Smith received a standing ovation and amazing review by Classical Music Daily. She was also invited to perform an intimate concert on a Stradivarius, which she reports was an "incredible experience."
Katy Smith is now preparing for her first performance of Elgar’s violin concerto with his bow, which will be in October with the Hertfordshire Philharmonia.
Violinist Leonid Sushansky signs with Eva Artistic Management for a second year
Leonid Sushansky, an internationally acclaimed violinist, has garnered widespread acclaim for his exquisite tone, compelling musicality, and passionate performances. Praised for his "Gorgeous tone" by The Washington Post and called "Astonishing" by The New York Times, Sushansky made his mark with a Carnegie Hall recital debut in 2005 alongside pianist Edward Newman. His musical journey has taken him to esteemed concert halls worldwide, where he has showcased his talents as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician, captivating audiences with his artistry.
From an early age, Sushansky exhibited prodigious talent, beginning his musical studies under the guidance of his mother, Rimma Sushanskaya, herself a violinist and pupil of the legendary David Oistrakh. His ascent continued when, at just 12 years old, he performed Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto on a Marvin Hamlisch TV Special for Showtime. He further honed his skills as a scholarship student at the Juilliard School, studying under the renowned pedagogue Dorothy DeLay and receiving guidance from violin virtuoso Isaac Stern.
Sushansky's career milestones include a debut with the New York Philharmonic at the age of 15, performing Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto at the invitation of Zubin Mehta. He pursued graduate studies at the University of Maryland with Daniel Heifetz and the Guarneri Quartet, solidifying his artistry and expanding his musical horizons. Mentored by luminaries like violinist Isaac Stern and Catherine Filene Shouse, founder of Wolf Trap, Sushansky's performances have consistently garnered praise and accolades, including glowing reviews from critics.
In addition to his performing career, Sushansky is a dedicated educator, currently serving on the faculty of the Levine School of Music in Washington DC. His commitment to nurturing young talent is evident through his tenure at various institutions and his private studio.

Trailblazing Pianist Ignites Musical Innovation through Premieres of New Compositions
Adam Piotr Żukiewicz is an award-winning, internationally acclaimed concert pianist. Mr. Żukiewicz has performed in some of the most important concert venues, including Carnegie Hall in New York, Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Palau da la Musica Catalana in Barcelona, Residenztheater in Munich, Goldensaal at the Musikverein in Vienna, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, KKL Luzern and many others.
Mr. Żukiewicz’s creative musical activities led to a recording of a debut album The Beginnings, exploring musical ideologies and languages of the great masters of the past and the present. The Beginnings was released to critical acclaim by the DUX label in November 2018, and selections of the album are broadcast regularly by the Colorado Public Radio Classical in the USA.
Following his long-lasting interest in the music of Fryderyk Chopin, in 2021, Mr. Żukiewicz has received a USA government grant to complete the "Chopin Unknown" recording research project. The project will have wider educational implications through the presentation of the recently published and never recorded study works of Chopin (Three Learned Fugues after Cherubini) as well as more renowned works, directly influenced by those.
As an avid performer of new music, Mr. Żukiewicz regularly presents modern works and premieres new compositions: most recently Jim Klein’s Piano Sonata The Abyss.

London Symphony Orchestra Brings Perttu's Vision to Life in Captivating Recording
Daniel Perttu's music has been performed on four continents and in more than 40 of the United States. His concert opener Phoenix was released on a recording by the London Symphony Orchestra in October, 2022, and his “Spring” overture was recently recorded by the Moravian Philharmonic (Czech Republic). Both recordings are on the GRAMMY-winning Navona Records label, an imprint of PARMA Recordings.
Exceptional Violinist Elevates Elgar's Legacy with Iconic Bow
Before starting her Advanced Diploma at the Royal Academy of Music, Katy Smith became friends with the owner of Edward Elgar's bow. The Tubbs bow was made for Elgar as a 21st birthday gift, inscribed 'EWE' on the ferrule, and 'presented by the Worcester Amateur Instrumental Society Jun[e] 1878' on the adjuster. Elgar was the concertmaster for their orchestra, and at that time his teacher, Pollitzer, regarded him as having the potential to be one of the leading soloists in the country.
Elgar kept the bow throughout most of his life, and would have used it while composing a lot of works including his violin concerto. In her final recital at RAM Katy Smith performed 5 different composers with 5 different bows, including Elgars and one made for Paganini to gift to a promising student! Smith explored how different bows might make it easier to interpret what the composer intended.
Ever since Smith first 'met' Elgar's bow, she dreamt of playing his violin concerto with it. The bow tip is heavy with a notable drag that enables a most incredibly rich and luscious sound-world that sits so naturally within the way that Elgar wrote for the violin. Katy Smith's current project is to offer a pre-concert talk going into detail about the bow's history, Elgar's concerto, and how she came about being a Bow Virtuoso, in addition to performing with it.

Doctor of Musical Arts: Mastering the Symphony of Expertise and Artistry
Scott E. Woodard is the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Butler Philharmonic Orchestra, and Founding Music Director of the West Virginia State Philharmonic Orchestra. Woodward holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University.
Dr. Woodard's primary teachers were Dr. Leonid Kochmar of the St. Petersburg State Conservatory of Music and the Mariinsky Theatre, Dr. Oleg Proskurnya, and Dr. Paul A. Balshaw.
In 2006, Scott Woodard was named first prize winner of the International Conductor's Workshop Competition and served as Guest Conductor of the Macon Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Woodard was also awarded first prize at the International Academy of Advanced Conducting.
Dr. Woodard is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the International Conductors Guild, and has worked with internationally acclaimed soloists Cristian Fatu, Yip Wai Chow, Victora Fatu, Anton Shelepov, Michael Riksin, and Elizabeth Pitcairn.

Two-time national finalist for the American Prize in Conducting, Dr. Joshua Shepherd brings expertise as violinist, violist, singer and conductor to both classical and commercial music audiences in his role as Music Director of The People’s Orchestra of Nashville. Joshua has sought ways to meaningfully serve the community by providing live orchestral music experiences for both musicians and audiences, during and since the pandemic lockdown. In summer 2020, he founded the Nashville Reading Orchestra so local musicians could play together in a safe environment. Under his baton, the group began performing publicly with a new name: The People’s Orchestra of Nashville. Cellist Gloria Kim has appeared in the US and across the globe as both a soloist and chamber musician. Her first Album “An Evening of Sentimental Classic” was released in April, 2023 in Korea - sponsored by Huks Music. As a composer, Bahman Saless has scored more than a dozen nature documentaries as well as many Hollywood trailers and teasers. Saless’ conducting career took off when he started his studies with some of the great conducting teachers including Kirk Trevor, Donald Schleicher, William LaRou Jones and Tomas Netopil. For the last 17 years, Mr. Saless has been the music director of Boulder Chamber Orchestra and has conducted the Martinu Philharmonic, Astoria Symphony, Zlin Symphony and the Round Rock Symphony Orchestra. His recent guest appearances include conducting La Traviata with the Italian Dominico Scarlatti Orchestra, the Brazilia National Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese and the Sanremo Symphony Orchestra in Italy. He is also conductor of The New American Philharmonic and a frequent guest conductor with the Chamber Orchestra Ogden and The Nova Chamber series. Gabriel also serves as the Artistic Director of The Ogden Bach Festival, is the Orchestra Director at Syracuse Arts Academy, and is board member of the David Arts Council.
From Poverty to Podium: The Remarkable Journey of a Conductor who Triumphed through El Sistema
At the age of 13, Victoria Sánchez joined the “Simón Bolívar” Conservatory of Music where she also joined El Sistema. El Sistema is a social rescue project for low-income youth. Victoria came from a slighty violent Venezuelan neighborhood, and is proud to be a product of the program. Inside the conservatory, Victoria met Eduardo Marturet, director of the Miami Symphony Orchestra, who mentored her in conducting. In 2018, she made her international debut as Music Director with the Symphony Orchestra of the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo (UAEH) in Mexico. With UAEH, she developed classical academic concerts and also didactic concerts for children, with a reach of 3,000 spectators. Victoria loves continuing the tradition of uplifting the youth, and founded and directed the “Garzas de la Música” Youth Symphony. Today, she's the President of Victoria Sánchez International Music Foundation, CEO of the Vienna Conducting Competition, and has an academy called 'Piano con Clase'. From humble beginnings to soaring heights, her journey through music has been a symphony of determination and passion.
Transatlantic Virtuoso: American Solo Classical Bassist Shines in London
Levi is an avid solo and chamber musician, having had international success in both respects. Namely, he has recently won 1st Prize at the International Society of Bassists in the Youth Solo Division. He has attended the Yehudi Menuhin School in London with Caroline Emery since September 2020, and will continue his studies with Caroline at the Royal College of Music London beginning in 2023. In addition to his success in competitions, Levi was asked to record Andres Martin's 'La Feria de San Telmo' with Nathan Perry for Orchid Classics' CD 'Around the World in 80 Days' with the Yehudi Menuhin School. This was subsequent to the duo's performance of Andres Martin's 2 Tango at King's Place London. Levi became a member of the Missouri philharmonic in 2017 and now holds the Principal Bass position since 2021. In 2018, he performed the second movement of Bottesini's Concerto no. 2 with the ensemble, after being named winner of the Charles R. Hall competition. He will soon return to perform Bottesini's Gran Duo Concertante in August of 2023. Other competition successes include 1st prizes in London Classical Music Competition and Caneres International Music Competition Vienna, among others.

Renowned conductor David Lockington will lead the South Bend Symphony Orchestra in an unforgettable musical experience on June 30th, 2023. David Lockington began his career as a cellist and was the Principal with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain for two years. After completing his bachelor of arts degree at the University of Cambridge where he was a choral scholar, Lockington came to the United States on a scholarship to Yale University where he received his master’s degree in cello performance and studied conducting with Otto Werner Mueller. He was a member of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and served as assistant principal cellist with the Denver Symphony Orchestra for three years before turning to conducting. Over the past thirty years, David Lockington has developed an impressive conducting career in the United States. A native of Great Britain, he served as the Music Director of the Grand Rapids Symphony from January 1999 to May 2015, and is currently the orchestra’s Conductor Laureate. He has held the position of Music Director with the Modesto Symphony since May 2007 and in March 2013, Lockington was appointed Music Director of the Pasadena Symphony. He has a close relationship with the Orquesta Sinfonica del Principado de Asturias in Spain, where he was the orchestra’s Principal Guest Conductor from 2012 through 2016, and in the 2015-16 season was named one of three Artistic Partners with the Northwest Sinfonietta in Tacoma, Washington.
